Bent River Community Credit Union is a member-owned, non-profit cooperative financial institution formed for the purpose of encouraging savings by offering a fair return, using those savings to make loans at competitively low interest rates to members, and providing other financial services. Members are united by a common bond of association and democratically operate the credit union under state or federal regulation.
There are approximately 9,000 credit unions in the United States with nearly 72 million credit union members nationwide. At Bent River Community Credit Union you will enjoy, the services normally found at larger financials, but you’ll enjoy the personal service and friendly atmosphere of a smaller institution.
The credit union was formed in 1935 by phone employees in the Davenport district. The first office was located in the phone company building at 523 Main Street, Davenport, Iowa. The credit union office moved to 1007 E. Kimberly Road, Davenport, Iowa in 1984 and then to its present location at 709 E. 46th St., Davenport, Iowa in December, 2004. In 1993 Southeast Iowa Catholic Credit Union merged with the then-named Davenport Bell Credit Union. In 1994 the name of the credit union was changed to Communications & Catholic Credit Union to reflect both the telephone employees and Catholic membership.
In July of 2008 GPC Credit Union was merged into the credit union, which allowed us to have an office in Muscatine, IA. In June of 2011 the credit union was approved for a community charter, and the name changed to Bent River Community Credit Union. In April of 2016, Bent River Credit Union divested the Muscatine branch location to Marine Credit Union in order to focus on serving the Quad City area.
